Just who is this Dolce Cakes girl?
I know that you’re interested. YOU know you’re interested.
My name is Robin and it’s nice to meet you. I’m from New York, Long Island to be specific. At heart I’m truly a New Yorker. Seriously, if you cut me open, I have bagels in place of lungs and my heart is a big Genoa Salami. I lack the accent but have retained the attitude. New York flows through my veins and through my lead foot. You probably don’t want to get stuck next to me in a traffic jam.. I’m a New Yorker.
I’m currently working full-time down here in beautiful Savannah, Georgia Austin, Texas where you can simultaneously find the nicest people and the worst drivers that you’ve ever met. In Savannah, I had been going to school for a BFA in Traditional Painting and Printmaking at the ever-popular and ever-growing Savannah College of Art & Design or what we call SCAD for the past two years.
Savannah is where I met my love, Zach. He’s a comic artist, destined to be the next John Romita Jr. He and I live here with our 5 crazy cats in our two bedroom apartment, trying to just make ends meet most of the time. We’ve been together for 2 years now and plan on getting married this June in his home city of Denver, Colorado.
I’ve baked for most of my life, but until recently didn’t think that I could actually make a living off of it. It’s always been something that I enjoyed doing, something that I did to de-stress myself. Cookies, cakes, and breads are my second love. The smell of yeast and the texture of a well kneaded loaf of artisan bread is something that I’ve always savored and enjoyed.
About 5 months ago I decided that I wanted to study it. Against all my better judgment, I enrolled in the Texas Culinary Academy, number two in the nation, to study Baking and Patisserie. So here I am. Ex Art Student, Pastry Chef in the making and lover of all things sweet.
I am also a strict and dedicated Vegetarian. I don’t eat meat and most animal products. I respect life and this planet and for that very reason, I’ve decided that I won’t eat my friends, I won’t disrespect the energy that lives in them and courses in my veins. I also am a huge proponent of animal rights and for that reason, I will not promote the factory farming industry where billions of animals meet their death each year.
